Dental Care

Quality dental care increases quality of life. A healthy mouth starts with a nutritious diet and home dental care including brushing and routine cleanings. The process of cleaning your pet’s teeth is similar to cleaning our own. Our doctors are trained in advanced dental techniques and can advise owners on available options for oral care. For your pet’s safety and a thorough oral exam, dogs and cats need to be anesthetized for dental cleanings. To ensure a safe anesthetic event, we require a comprehensive physical exam and blood work prior to any procedure.

Surgery – Soft Tissue and Orthopedic

Our veterinarians are equipped to perform soft tissue and orthopedic procedures including fracture repairs and cruciate ligament (knee) surgeries. Just like physicians, we sterilely prepare our patients for surgery and operate wearing a gown, cap, mask, and gloves in a fully outfitted surgical suite.

During anesthetic procedures, our technicians and doctors continuously monitor all of the patient’s vital parameters including blood pressure, heart rate, electrocardiography (ECG), blood oxygenation, respiration, and temperature. As strong advocates of pain control, we administer analgesics for all of our surgeries.

Wellness and Preventative Care

Puppy/Kitten

We want your babies healthy from the very beginning, so we provide:

  • Education on quality, complete diets
  • Protection from infectious diseases with vaccinations and parasite control including de-worming and heartworm prevention
  • Advice on behavior and training
  • Information on spaying or neutering
  • Guidance on long-term care including information on addressing breed-specific problems

Adult

We urge you and your pet visit us yearly to discuss any existing concerns as well as proactive measures you can take to ensure future health. Specifically, we recommend a:

  • Comprehensive physical exam
  • Dental health evaluation offering information on dental cleanings and home care
  • Stool parasite test and any necessary laboratory work
  • Infectious disease prevention assessment, offering necessary vaccinations, internal parasite prevention, flea control, and heartworm prevention

Senior

We must always remember that age is not a disease – senior pets simply require specialized care. When they reach about 8 years old, being in tune with any changes is essential to ensure health. We recommend:

  • Biannual physical exams
  • Annual internal organ evaluations with blood work, establishing baseline levels at a healthy state to potentially prevent illness or disease
  • Risk assessment for infectious disease prevention, to maintain safety while outdoors and exposed to other animals
  • Routine veterinary dental cleanings, to improve overall health and wellness by preventing future tooth loss and gum infections
  • Additional ways to ensure quality of life and comfort
