Wellness and Preventative Care
Puppy/Kitten
We want your babies healthy from the very beginning, so we provide:
- Education on quality, complete diets
- Protection from infectious diseases with vaccinations and parasite control including de-worming and heartworm prevention
- Advice on behavior and training
- Information on spaying or neutering
- Guidance on long-term care for your pet including information on addressing breed-specific problems
Adult
We urge you and your pet visit us yearly to discuss any existing concerns as well as proactive measures you can take to ensure future health. Specifically, we recommend a:
- Comprehensive physical exam
- Dental health evaluation offering information on dental cleanings and home care
- Stool parasite test and any necessary laboratory work
- Infectious disease prevention assessment, offering necessary vaccinations, internal parasite prevention, flea control, and heartworm prevention
Senior
We must always remember that age is not a disease – senior pets simply require specialized care. When they reach about 8 years old, it is essential to be in-tune with any changes. We recommend:
- Biannual physical exams
- Annual internal organ evaluations with blood work, establishing baseline levels when your pet is healthy to potentially prevent illness or disease
- Risk assessment for infectious disease prevention, to keep them safe while outdoors and exposed to other animals
- Routine veterinary dental cleanings, to improve overall health and wellness by preventing future tooth loss and gum infections
- Additional ways to ensure quality of life and comfort
Internal Medicine
After we examine your pet, we use what we have learned along with the information you have provided on their habits and lifestyle to identify and treat numerous medical problems. Today, we are able to treat many diseases that were once untreatable.
Dermatology
Considering that skin is our largest organ, skin problems can cause a great deal of discomfort for your pet. Our veterinarians can address all types of dermatologic conditions including ear infections, allergies, and immune-mediated diseases. We also carry a wide selection of medicated shampoos and hypoallergenic foods.
Comprehensive Dental Care
Quality dental care increases quality of life. A healthy mouth starts with a nutritious diet and home dental care including brushing and routine cleanings. The process of cleaning your pet’s teeth is similar to cleaning our own. Our doctors are trained in advanced dental techniques and can advise owners on available options for oral care. For your pet’s safety and a thorough oral exam, dogs and cats need to be anesthetized for dental cleanings. To ensure a safe anesthetic event, we require a comprehensive physical exam and blood work prior to any procedure.
Soft Tissue and Orthopedic Surgery
Our veterinarians are equipped to perform most surgeries, from routine spay and neuters to more involved soft tissue and orthopedic procedures including fracture repairs and cruciate ligament (knee) surgeries. Just like people, animals are prepared for surgery in a sterile manner and our surgeons operate wearing gowns, caps, masks, and gloves in a fully outfitted surgical suite. During anesthetic procedures, our technicians and doctors continuously monitor all of the patient’s vital parameters including blood pressure, heart rate, ECG, blood oxygenation, respirations, and temperature. Because we are strong advocates for pain control, we provide analgesics (pain control) for all of our surgeries.
Nutritional Counseling/Diet Choices
What our pets eat plays a large role in their health. During all exams, we discuss the best food options for your pet’s needs. We offer a large selection of prescription diets at our hospital.
In-House Pharmacy
For your convenience, we carry most prescriptions and over-the-counter medications at our hospital including flea and heartworm preventatives.
Extensive Laboratory Services
If needed, especially during an emergency, we can perform most blood, urine, and fecal tests in our hospital. We have also partnered with a regional laboratory to provide necessary test results as fast as possible.
Imaging Services
If we need more information from inside your pet’s body, our caring vet technicians may take an x-ray. Also, we work with a local veterinary radiologist who can provide any necessary consultations and ultrasounds.
Emergency (Urgent or Acute Care)
We are available Monday through Saturday to provide emergency care for your pets. If you need a veterinarian after hours, please contact one of our local emergency hospitals.
Boarding
Need someone else to care for your dog or cat while you’re gone? We are available for boarding too.
