Northwest Neighborhood Veterinary Hospital is sponsoring a community blood drive. Look for the bloodmobile in the parking lot (2680 NW Thurman) on Saturday, April 23rd from 2:00pm-7:00pm. Bloodworks Northwest is a local, nonprofit blood center providing most of the human blood needs in Portland. All donations stay local to help patients at Legacy and Providence hospitals.
Clearing Café will be providing treats and blood donors will receive a coupon for $10 off any service at Northwest Neighborhood Veterinary Hospital.
Humans aren’t the only ones who need blood transfusions. DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital Blood Bank provides enough blood and plasma every year for more than 500 transfusions for dogs and cats. Dove Lewis Animal Bloodbank director, Jill Greene, will be available during the human blood drive to answer questions about the process and register dogs for donor testing.
